Which services are included?

We like transparency just as much as you do. That’s why it’s important to us that you know that WP Smart Protect is a security and maintenance service, not a flat-rate contract for support hours for your website.

Service? Yes. Repairs? No

The situation is comparable to taking a car in for servicing to check that it’s safe and in full working order: the price includes a visual inspection, test measurements, filter changes, tyre inspection and much more. However, if any defects are found parts that are subject to wear-and-tear such as the brakes, exhaust or clutch, then the repair is not included in the price. You can decide for yourself whether you want to have it repaired or continue driving the car as it is.

The ‘road safety’ of websites is primarily ensured by the implementation of updates. However, the updates for WordPress, themes and plugins from different providers are not always compatible with one another. This can sometimes lead to conflicts that affect the look and feel of the website. In such case, old code must be replaced with new. Furthermore, not all plugins are always developed further, meaning that security vulnerabilities of older plugins can only be eliminated by installing new plugins.
In such cases, we advise you on the available options and solutions, as well as offering you suitable services, so that you can decide for yourself.

For WordPress websites with high availability and performance requirements, we offer individual service level agreements (SLA). When it comes to fast response times (even outside office hours and at weekends), uptime monitoring and special security solutions, we are able to cover your exact wishes and requirements. Is your service also available for websites created by another agency?

Yes, absolutely. We specialise in the protection and maintenance of websites and offer our service independently of your existing agency.

Wouldn't it make more sense for my existing agency to take care of this?

No, not usually. After all, a finished house isn’t guarded by the architect or the builders but, rather, by a specialist security company. And that’s exactly what we do, exclusively for WordPress websites.

Do I have to change my host?

No, you can stay with your current hosting provider. If a better offer is available, we’ll be happy to advise you.

Will anything be installed on my website?

Yes, we install our plugin, called WP Smart Protect. This plugin allows us to include your website in our security monitoring. If you cancel your subscription, the plugin will be removed.

What happens if an update causes errors?

WordPress, themes and plugins come from different providers and can sometimes become incompatible with one another after an update. We solve known problems immediately if there is a simple solution available. Otherwise, we will reverse the affected update and offer you an alternative solution.

What distinguishes WP Smart Protect from other maintenance contracts?

The focus on security. It’s not just about maintaining your website. It’s about making it safe and secure. Although maintenance is an important part of our security concept, it’s not the sole focus.

Is WP Smart Protect available for any WordPress website?

In principle, yes. But not always. This might be due to old WP installations, insecure plugins, complex in-house developments, or because the website has already been hacked. On request, we will check if we can protect your website with WP Smart Protect. If not, we’ll provide you with an alternative solution.

How can I cancel the contract?

You can cancel the contract at any time in writing, just send us an E-Mail. The contract will be renewed automatically unless you let us know 3 month in advance. This will guarantee the Smart Protection. There will not be any refund as you have a 30 days trial periode to make sure the service is what you need.

Does WP Smart Protect come with a guarantee against hacker attacks?

No, we cannot fully guarantee that your website will never be hacked. However, WP Smart Protect reduces the risk to an absolute minimum – in contrast to unprotected sites. Of the more than one hundred websites that we protect and maintain with WP Smart Protect, not one has yet been hacked.

Are there any additional costs associated with the contract?

No, not unless you order any extra features. If your website cannot be kept secure and up to date with the standard package from WP Smart Protect, we will suggest different solutions and send you a corresponding quotation. This may be the case if a plugin is no longer being developed and needs to be replaced with a new one.
